Dolly Parton's Boudoir May 16, 2004 - 6:26 p.m.

An excerpt for you:

"Last Monday I came back from two miserable days in my dad's custody to find she (the mom) had painted my bedroom a ghastly pink. She said she had read this color was widely used in hospitals to calm mental patients. I told her I wasn't mentally ill, I was just a teenager. Meanwhile, I am now embarrassed to invite my friends over. When you're a slight, unathletic teen who reads a lot and likes Frank Sinatra, you really don't want the word to get around that you wank your winkie in a room that looks like Dolly Parton's boudoir."
Everybody needs to read C.D. Payne's Youth in Revolt - that excerpt is what I originally read that made me say 'I have to get this book'. I've read it twice, and I'm tempted to reread it now that I'm done with Geek Love... which everyone should also read.

These are mandatory, people. Wonderful pieces of twisted literature. Go, now! To yon bookstore or library!

Now if I could just figure out what I'm going to read next. Besides possibly Youth in Revolt, of course.

So Chris' birthday was Thursday. He hates making a big deal out of his birthday, or any holiday. In fact, he hates making a deal out of it at all, big or small. So he would feign annoyance when I'd ask him what he wanted for a birthday dinner or what he wanted to do. Even though he says he shouldn't have special treatment on his birthday, it didn't stop him from cheerfully deciding he wanted pizza. Because he knew I wasn't going to dispute it. Otherwise we just hung out and watched Lost in Translation. Good stuff. I'm going to try and watch it again before he takes it back to the bookstore.

Since he got his pizza on Thursday, he decided we should get chinese food last night as I've been craving it for weeks. Chinese food, video games, and Four Feathers... it was a relaxing evening at home. Just the way I like it.

Hmm... If only I could write like Nick Twisp, then this stuff would seem half interesting.
