Elphie's Story October 02, 2003 - 5:14 a.m.

I'm about three fourths of the way finished with Wicked. It's a great, great story. And not only is it interesting to see how the Wicked Witch of the West was born and raised and went on to college, then to be in some terrorist group, then join a nunnery, and eventual become what we see in the movie... but it's also loaded with messages. There is so much to be said about politics, theology, sociology, psychology and philosophy. Most of those subjects are not broached in a metaphoric way either. It's direct. So direct, that I often get confused with the wording.

I'm a simple person with a simple mind. I need little words used in little ways.

"It is simplicity that makes the uneducated more effective than the educated when addressing popular audiences." - Aristotle

"Say all you have to say in the fewest possible words, or your reader will be sure to skip them; and in the plainest possible words or he will certainly misunderstand them." - John Ruskin

So not only is a good story, but it's thought provoking.

Gold stars all around!

Go read it. Now!
