Vanity Cards December 09, 2002 - 2:22 p.m. I'm not an avid fan of many tv shows. As most of you know, I mainly watch shows like Buffy and Gilmore Girls. Hour long shows with some more depth and a bit of humor. Typically, I don't watch sitcoms. But I have found that I will watch sitcoms, once they've began rerunning on a different channel. Usually this only happens at home when I have nothing better to do with my time. Lately I've caught a few episodes of Dharma and Greg. It runs opposite the news and I can always use an escape from the news. Any of you that may have watched this in the past, may have noticed at the end credits that there was a screen full of tiny text. It only shows up for about 2 seconds and you obviously can't read all of it that quickly. You're lucky to get the first line read by the time it goes away. But if you look at the screen as a whole, you'll sometimes notice seperate words, like 'Stooges' and 'Ouch! Dammit!' These brief glimpes cause the jumble of letters to become even more enticing. Finally today, I decided to look it up. (I'm trying to keep myself preoccupied so that I don't start playing Animal Crossing... I already feel it sucking me in.) Lo and behold, right there on the ABC website, was Chuck Lorre's Vanity Cards. Vanity Cards - that's what he calls the blurb covering the screen. Turns out, this 'vanity card' changes for each episode. Much like Bart's writing on the chalkboard during The Simpsons' opening. And ABC has each and every one of them to read at your leisure. The wit and wisdom of Chuck Lorre, without the whole VCR hassle. I'll be able to read a few of these before I get bored and end up giving in to the forming addiction.
