I want a beautiful home.

I'm sure I've mentioned this before... but this is what I want more than anything else.

I don't care about having some house that appears in every 'Pretty Home' magazine in the bookstore. In fact, I'd prefer something more modest. The simple 3 or 4 bedrooms. (You see, I want an office/library) 2 1/2 bath. 2 car garage. Full basement. Otherwise, I don't care if it doesn't have vaulted ceilings, an eat-in kitchen with mini-island, enormous deck looking over the acreage we consider a back yard, swimming pool, etc, etc, etc.

I simply want a normal functioning home with basic upkeep. All floors, walls, and ceilings in tact. Small holes are fine, because they're easily remedied. Large gaping pits of doom that suck in anything near a two mile radius are not acceptable. Properly working electric is mandatory, in EVERY room. Phones are a plus, but I don't really care as long as there is one in the house for emergencies. Running water; yeah, that'd be fantastic. Running water hooked up to a properly functioning (not leaking) water heater; much better. Air conditioner/Furnace that serves it's purpose (which is not a paperweight, by the way) would be greatly appreciated as well. Bathtubs with no cracks would be swell. Let's not forget the faucets that don't leak. A must-have on any homeowners list. Oh, and any door leading from the outside of the house to the inside MUST have doorknobs and any hole designed for other door-like appliances filled. I'm spoiled... I want my own washer, dryer, and dishwasher. They do make life easier, don't you think?

Simply put, I want a place of my own that isn't falling apart.

I understand that a house requires regular maintenance. But as long as you stay on top of it, not putting anything off until the VERY last minute, everything should be dandy.

Maybe if I just get my shit together, I'll have this one day.

But you all know better. This is me that we're talking about here.

The one dream I want fulfilled the most, and it seems the furthest away.
