Traumatize Your Kids Day November 10, 2003 - 10:21 p.m.

The past week and a half or so, my friend was sick which caused some complications in her pregnancy. Tuesday or Wednesday, she actually started going into labor.

She's right around twenty-six weeks along.

Luckily they were able to stop the labor, but she was put on meds and bed rest. There was still that underlying concern that the infection would cause labor to induce itself again.

She was given the okay to go back to work on Tuesday, but cabin fever was kicking in and she tried to go back a day early - feeling fine, after all. Only to find out she needs an actual release note from her doctor.

So she's sent home, gets me, and we run a few errands for her mom, as well as going by her doctor's office.

They couldn't find her records, so we sat there for quite awhile while they were looking.

And while sitting there, I took part in my favorite pastime.

Making fun of people.

Stupid outfits, stupid hairstyles (Why does anyone still wear mullets?), stupid expressions, stupid actions...

And apparently, it was national 'Take Your Kids to Your Pap Smear' day because there were several women that came in with kids, and took them into the gynecologist office with them. Which is worse? Leaving your school-aged, backpack clad kids in the private waiting room during your observation, or taking them in with you while the doctor pokes and prods mommy's naughty bits?

I'm thinking the latter would be fully traumatizing to a young, but observant, child.
