The Christmas List December 27, 2003 - 4:57 p.m. Otay folks, this is what I got this year. From Chris -
His mom gave me a jacket. It's greyish silver with soft fur on the cuffs and hood. But I can't decide if I like it. It makes a nice raincoat, at least. And it is a lighter jacket that I can wear in the rain, as opposed to my suede one. So I'm sure I'll use it plenty. She also brought a gift bag full of good chocolates, addressed to the two of us. And she bought Chris a new computer yesterday, which was the main intended Christmas present. Though it is his computer I guess it's for me as well, seeing as I'm on it just as much, if not more, than he is. Black and silver everything. Computer tower, speakers, mouse, keyboard. It's fucking beautiful. He has to pay her back a couple hundred for it, because she was only going to pay so much. And this one didn't come with a monitor, so he's going to be upgrading that as soon as possible. Luckily this one works for the time being. The keyboard is super nice. The keys work really well, you barely have to touch them. And, all the letters are visible. We had worn the ink off of the other keyboard. There's snazzy buttons all across the top; Internet, Search, Favorites, Volume of course, Play/Stop/FForward/Rewind, Calculator... even Cut and Paste buttons on the side. Though we know the shortcut for those, so it's kinda pointless. But really handy for those that don't know 'em. And did I mention it's black? With all those extra buttons being silver. It's particularly lovely. The mouse is mostly silver, with black on the edge, cord, and scrolly wheel. We finally have a scrolly wheel! I love those things! The speakers are silver with the black mesh/felt stuff over the front. It sounds really good. Now, the computer itself... It was a bundle package. Emachine. We weren't sure about Emachines for the longest time, but we had been hearing such fantastic reviews lately. And they're soo much cheaper than other systems. TechTV had something recently where Emachine was listed right up there with Dell as far as quality. And their parts aren't sautered or glued in, so you can upgrade. We finally have Windows XP and a DVDrom. 120 gb hard drive, as opposed to the 27 gigs we were using. 512mb DDR SDRAM. Groovy. The CPU is an AMD Athlon XP 2800+... much better than what we had before. It came with an NVidia GeForce 4 MX graphic card, but we upgraded in-store to a Radeon 9200 8x. It's super nice, and quiet too. Oh, and there's blue neon light around the power button. Oh, here it is. Once my mom is feeling better, we're going to exchange presents. That's when I'll open what I got from my dad and stepmom. Otherwise, she got me a spiffy, black button-up shirt and some pants that fit weird. I think that's about it. So far, lacking DVDs and books. And seriously lacking anything Buffy related. Kind of surprising, really. But my birthday is coming up, and I got or will be getting gift cards. So I'm happy. But it still never really felt like Christmas.
