Give Me Something to Sing About December 30, 2003 - 12:02 p.m.

My mom finally came over last night and brought a yummy ham. As well as my presents from my Dad and Stepmom.

  • Big Stitch plushie (from Lilo and Stitch)
  • Scooby Doo lip balm set with zipper pull (She said she saw it last minute and was like 'why not')
  • Contact starter kit thing - which translates to new contact case and a small thing of solution. Very handy.
  • Scooby Doo Bobblehead game
  • Bath stuff gift set
  • Finding Nemo DVD
  • The Lion King DVD
  • $25 Walmart gift card
  • $30 Target gift card

Finally! A few more DVDs! Just one more movie or boxset, and my list is at 100. Considering I still don't have Buffy season five or Firefly, I'm going to guess and say number one hundred will be one of those.

At first, when I saw the Stitch plushie, I was thinking it was cute but silly. A useless thing. And while it's still useless, I can't help but look at it sitting next to the TV and thinking 'aawwww' because he's just adorable.

My mom said she still had to wrap my gifts - how many times have I heard that line? - but she loved what I got her. Which was mostly practical stuff; some shoes and socks, body spray, hot chocolate; as well as A Christmas Story 2 Disc DVD. She's been wanting it for years, and I'm glad I held off because I was able to get the special edition with all the extra stuff. I think I did well, because she got mostly stuff she needed or used a lot, plus one frivilous thing. As well as a gift bag (she couldn't find her stocking) full of candy and chocolates. And I plan on making her some Cordial Cherries as well.

Chris is slowing starting to feel better. He still feels like shit and has gone almost entirely hoarse, but he isn't throwing up and is able to move around with less pain.

He's been sick. His brother came over when he was very sick. We were around other family that had been sick. My mom was sick.... I'm just waiting for it to be my turn.

And oddly enough, it's like I'm looking forward to it. It's like having an excuse to lie around and feel like crap. I won't have to feel guilty for being useless. And lemme tell you, that guilt only adds to the problem, it doesn't relieve it in any way. Some people would see that as a way of forcing themselves to change. Guess I'm just gimpy.

Speaking of useless, I work tomorrow. A whopping four hours. I haven't worked in over a month, and already the thought of that place/job makes me want to smash little kids' faces into brick walls.

I need something different.

Scratch that.

I need... something.
