Reading in an Elevator April 16, 2003 - 5:59 a.m.

That job this weekend was beyond lame. I spent at least 6 hours of the evening falling asleep in an elevator. A very tiny, Shining-esque elevator planted discreetly in the parking garage. With horrible lighting. They brought me a chair around 8pm, and I attempted to read.

Ever try reading on an elevator with bad light? It's annoying.

The stupid job was pointless. I was supposed to check wristbands on people. If they didn't have them, they couldn't go into the hotel. Yet they were allowed to park in the hotel parking? And then there were people that were going to check into the hotel, so they had to get into the hotel, without said wristband. Then there were some people that just wanted to get to the street, and the easiest way was through the hotel. It was completely pointless to have me there. I basically became an elevator operator. 'Which floor?' With all of three buttons to press. Bottom floor of the parking garage. Top floor of the parking garage. And the lobby. The sane people realized they could simply walk the short flight of stairs.

Oh, and I was forgotten about. They were supposed to 'relieve' me three times. Twice for a fifteen minute break, and once for lunch which was provided by the hotel. I got nothing.

Well, not completely nothing. Some guy gave me a $5 tip and another guy asked me out. He was an older guy, with a leather vest.. it was funny. He said something about me using a nice way of declining. I wish I could remember what I said then, so I could use the same line next time it happens. Not like it happens regularly.

I didn't get to see any of the fireworks. Just listen.. you can hear my heart sarcasticly breaking. It would have just been nice to have had that break.

We left work, Mom bought me some White Castle and a cappucino, and I crashed when I got home.

The next day, I was forced to sit with old people for seven hours. I napped through a good chunk of that.

Boring. Boring. Blah blah blah.

I had to go fill out an application yesterday. For the very job that I've already worked. That's just retarded. While there, they said they had a concert event coming up soon. They've already asked me if I wanted to work it.

The Dixie Chicks.

Fuck you!! You know how many psycho-patriotic people could be there, bearing guns and tomatoes??? Stupid assholes that aren't content with allowing other people to voice their opinions? That's what America's about, you dickheads! Freedom of fucking speech!

Ugh. People like that annoy me. They get pissy for someone that states a political opinion. Like, WAY pissy. So when they become completely irrate and stupid for it, to the point of condemning someone for even having an opinion, it seems to me that that behavior is just as bad as they're making out the comment to be in the first place. Did that make sense? I guess I'm trying to say, when they over-react like that, they aren't seeing how "unamerican" they look by not allowing someone to voice their opinions. I say 'unamerican' because that's the very same term they use when someone says something they find insulting to the US. It's like.. by condemning someone based on their views, they've put themselves in the same category that they've put the accused treasonist.

Yeah... so I didn't really intend on making that a rant. I just kind of went with it. So I'll stop now.

Buffy was good. Shocking. Killing two slayerettes... and oh my god at Xander!!! I heard that the ending of the series was going to become very emotional. We're assuming someone main dies. Maybe even Xander, as sad as that is. I've not read any spoilers, and I don't want to. So my thoughts are probably far from possible.
