Warning - The following entry is not intended to offend anyone.

A conversation this morning made me remember an observation I made years ago. It's a rude and mean observation, but typically holds true nonetheless.

There seems to be a trend that overweight, obnoxious females are obsessed with the colour purple.

Now, I don't mean any chic that's overweight is obsessed with purple. Or that anyone obsessed with purple is obnoxious. And I also don't mean obnoxious as bitchy, as it can often refer to that overly happy kind of person. But it does seem that any person obsessed with purple is at least slightly overweight if not huge, and is fairly annoying. If you know a person like this, then I'm sure you understand what I'm saying.

There seems to be more about the person that allows them to fit into their own category of purple-loving nuts, too, but it's hard to pinpoint just what it is. Every single thing they own, has to be purple. They wear purple just about every day. Purple sheets on the bed. Purple accessories. Purple paint on the walls, even. If there's a colour option, the answer is purple.

Don't get me wrong, I like purple myself. It's not something I could wear every day, it's a small doses kind of thing. Excessive amount is just frightening. But it seems that some people go too far with it. And it also seems that the same people that consider it their favourite colour tend to have other traits in common with one another. It's like they are their own breed of person.

I also can't decide if this hypothesis should include another shared trait. The love of cats. This one may not be consistent, but a good portion of these purple-obsessers seem to wear shirts with cats on them and may own several cats as well. Also, there's a need to collect things. Like, cutesy things. Knick-knacks. Stuffed animals, teapots, porcelain cats, etc. But that's just another hypothesis... not sure if it's consistent either.

So now I'm trying to pinpoint the characteristics of people that prefer other colours. Like the people that say black is their favorite colour tend to be of the 'goth' persuasion and listen to heavier music. [I use the term 'goth' loosely here.] These people are often considered angry or depressed as well. Sometimes artsy. But I can't seem to think of traits for other colours.

If I think of any others, I'll update you. And if you think of any, lemme know.
