No Snacks Before Bed November 20, 2002 - 2:09 p.m.

I had the strangest dream last night.

And, of course, I can't remember enough to explain it properly. Which is a shame, because I think it would make a fantastic movie. Or at least a video game.

There's a group of people. At least five, but I'm sure there's more. One is a Kevin Bacon type character. Kind of a jerkoff, instigator of lots of crap. The type of guy that gets other people to do his dirty work so that he can put all the blame on them in the event that things go sour. The other main guy is an Ethan Hawke type character. Somewhat naive and gullible. Easily taken advantage of by the Kevin Bacon character. But he tries his best to be a good guy and set things right. The other characters were just standard run of the mill people. Men and women. Each having their own reason for being here.

Okay, so the gist of what I can remember....

There's this piece of equipment or something in a school. Not a huge children's school, but like a small adult learning center type school. Now, I can't remember if they were dared to go and get this 'prize' or if it was some type of job they were getting paid for. I know it had something to do with the Kevin Bacon character. He wanted this thing and didn't want to get it by himself. But you don't know this immediately.

They get into the school, and the door locks behind them. Instant worry. They're standing in the middle of a long empty hallway. There are no doors in the hallway, except a large opening at each end, which leads to various rooms. Immediately, they notice this weird metal track running through the school, in every room, much like a railroad track. Yet there's no cart or train seen to use on the track.

Now, somehow they get word of where they need to go. Much like a video game where they go to one room, then run to another room on the other side of the building to solve some puzzle or beat up some boss. Maybe they had a map of everything planned out for them or there was a strange voice over the intercom system telling them.

There was a strange voice over the intercom. I know for sure that it basically tormented them, letting them know that they were trapped, doomed, etc. Laughing at them the way menacing villains typically laugh at the good guys. But then again, these people were trying to steal something, so I guess they aren't so 'good'.

After running like mad, finding this random object, and trying to find a way out... They realize that there aren't any windows. And only one exit. The way they came in. Which, as you may remember, was locked. They also realize as they're running that there are no other doors in the building. Any seperate room would simply have a large opening into the main hallway. They could never safely hide inside one room. And by this time... they wanted to hide. That intercom voice was tormenting them to know end, making an endless amount of gory threats. The girls were definitely running scared.

Then there's like this total blackout. I mean mentally. I don't remember what happens after searching for an exit to the end.

I believe they had a plan of escape. A plan that was really going to work. A plan that allowed them to take this 'object'.

The intercom voice did not like this. Not one bit.

So he set the tracks into motion. You know, those tracks that are in EVERY room of the building. They weren't put down for some wheeled contraption. They were a weapon of sorts.

And our group of thieves soon found this out when it began moving. Like quick, piercing snakes.

Next all I remember was the blood bath. People were getting skewered. Limbs were getting sliced off. Some were even sliced in half, length-wise.

In a moment of stillness, the Kevin Bacon character slowly stood up (he somehow managed to receive only minor cuts) and spotted a camera on the wall. Out of spite or simply to say 'fuck you', he held this object they were trying to steal up to the camera with a huge smirk smeared across his face.

Then a track/snake shot through his back, out his chest and his smirk quickly changed to fear and shock. He writhes for a few moments then his head is lobbed off. He was the last one alive.

Also... the creepiest part of this, the part that's just sticking with me, was the little song that the intercom guy was chanting through the entire torture scene.

"Here it comes. Here it goes. Here it comes. Here it goes. Here it comes. Here it goes......"

This was said so calmly, slowly, rythmically in a sing-song fashion. It didn't end until all the tracks were layed perfectly back into place.

And this is when I woke up. And my only thought was 'woah'.

Even stranger, was the fact that this dream occurred after only sleeping for a couple of hours. Then every dream that proceeded it had mention of it, in some way. As if it were the latest movie that everyone is talking about.
