The Movies We Love August 30, 2003 - 11:50 p.m. Okay, so all they did was package three existing discs into one box, but this boxset is so very awesome. Yeah, I realize it's also bare-boned discs, which means nothing special to speak of. But I grew up watching these movies, so I think it's pretty groovy. By the time I was like eight or nine, I considered The Breakfast Club to be one of my favorite movies. Along with The Lost Boys, which I already have on dvd. I do think this boxset is lacking Pretty in Pink though. Of course, if they added that then dropped Weird Science, it would have just been a Molly Ringwald boxset. But then again, this is a Hughes directorial boxset, not strictly 80's genre flicks, so that kills that idea anyhow. Though he did write Pretty in Pink, he didn't direct it. In that case, it's missing Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Also, speaking of Hughes and his writing ventures, this has got to be at least seven levels of wrong. Although we can't blame Hughes... by the listing on IMDB, it appears that he's credited with merely the character ideas from the earlier movies. Which I have no shame in admitting I loved. I'll get the Home Alone boxset one day. Even if the fourth one is included.
