Jigsaws and Stories April 25, 2002 - 6:56 a.m.

Does it ever end??? Just when I think I'm done with all these quizzes, I find a site with a dozen more. Not that it's a bad thing... cause this one rocks!!

Take The Scooby-Doo Test!

It's just after 6 a.m. and I still can't sleep. I'm sure I'll crash when I get home today, provided that I won't have work. It really sucks not being the slightest bit tired when you should be going to sleep.

I spent a few hours last night (meaning Tuesday) doing a jigsaw puzzle. 500+ pieces. Photomosaic of Mona Lisa. It was soo pretty. I love the feeling when I can complete something of that complexity. Not that it's rocket science or brain surgery of course. It just requires LOTS of patience, having to find every tiny little image and figuring out where it fits into the big picture. I'm such a fan of jigsaws... I swear, I must truly be an 80 year old, stuck in this body. I feel like it at times.

I started reading Foxfire. I'm only a few chapters into it so far. Already, I can see there have been lots of changes in the movie. First off, the 'gang' is together for like 4 years... but it seems like only a month or two in the movie. If even that much. And there are some minor differences with the characters. Just physical differences and how they know each other... that kind of stuff. Granted, I realize they 'modernized' the storyline to have it take place in the 90's, as opposed to the 50's like in the book.

A lot of people that I know always get disappointed with a movie after reading the book that it was based on. Not me. "You should read the book first...". Then you have the people that say "You should see the movie first...". The way I see it, if you read the book first, it spoils the ending of the movie. If you see the movie first, it spoils the ending of the book. Typically, anyhow. When I read the book, whether it's before or after seeing the flick, I don't compare the two. I notice the differences, of course, but I don't really analyze how it effected either. I feel that the two compliment each other... one adds something that the other is lacking. I just try to enjoy the story.

You're Morticia Addams!

Take The Addams Family Test Here!

I was going through various surveys and stuff, sorting them out, eventually going to add a huge survey to my site. (Yeah, I know I haven't posted a link yet... :P ) One of the questions has something to do with 'what's your guilty pleasures?'. First things that pop in my head are movies, books, Buffy... hehe. When it hit me... I basically only have one guilty pleasure. (Why do they call it that anyhow? It's not like I feel guilty.) Stories. My not-so-guilty pleasure would have to be stories. Movies are stories. Books are stories. Buffy is one big story, or several small ones, depending on how you see it. Jokes, comics, anecdotes, the news... all stories. Looks like I need to start making up a better list of guilty pleasures... Besides my endless quizzes. :-P
