Told Ya So May 02, 2004 - 9:26 p.m. More weird dreams, can't remember any details though. One had to deal with an Oriental war. Also, Chris slept in my typical spot last night - on the couch - and complained of having weird dreams. I started to blame the wackiness on the couch, then I realized I had my finger biting dream at my mom's house. Cramps and bleeding today; there goes my potential for alien blame. Otherwise, I guess I could blame the heat. The whole change in temperature could be screwing with my mind. Anything other than thinking there are other issues at stake. Before my mom and I worked the horse show last weekend, we lost our mailbox at her house. We're thinking someone backed into it with their car, and it caused the post to split at the base. She came home one day to see it lying on the ground. So she decided a temporary fix would be to prop it up in the garbage can. Which worked fine. But the night before trash pickup, I suggested she do something different, otherwise the garbage men might pick it up and then she'd be stuck with no mailbox at all. She figured they wouldn't be 'silly' enough to do that. Sure enough, we come home the next day to find an empty garbage can, and no mailbox around. I wanted to make her a banner that said 'I told you so!' We went mailbox price shopping, after having the post office hold our mail. She's wanting to get what I call a Little Tykes mailbox. For those that can't figure it out, it's one of those plastic, Rubber Maid looking boxes and post that everyone seems to have anymore. Those are about $50, or we could go with a standard set for $20. What does she want? The $60 Little Tykes, stone column simulated set. Which I dig too. It's grey, so it matches the house. Plus we'll need a new wooden post for the set to fit over - we'll go with weather treated this time - and soil or concrete to fill the gaping hole that was left behind by the previous post and concrete base. So we're looking at $75 or so. I told her that can be her Mother's Day present, instead of letting her settle for a shitty mailbox. While I'm at it, I'll buy her some flowers to put around it. Any recommendations on flowers that need almost no upkeep, but will continue to grow year after year? In other news, Chris has already started playing L5R again. Partially because he realized he can sell some of his existing cards on Ebay. I knew that wouldn't last long.
