Mieces to Pieces October 03, 2003 - 12:49 a.m.

We have a mouse in the house. At least, I think it's only one mouse. We'll occasionally see it run by an open door or under the refrigerator or behind the couch. It also seems to spend a lot of time around the computer; guess it knows where the best food is. I often hear it moving around, scurrying about, doing mousey things. Sometimes I'll catch a glimpse of it running by my feet or along the comic boxes. I actually heard it squeak the other day.

The stereotypical reaction for a girl that sees a mouse, is to screech and jump up onto a chair. They'd later put out mousetraps, or have someone do it for them, or even hire an exterminator. Then cry, and say 'Don't kill it!'.

I crumble up pieces of bread or get some cat food and place it in little corners and mouse-like alcoves.

I'm the type of person that would lead a fly to a web, so the spider wouldn't go hungry.

So... does that make me evil, or compassionate?

And I really dug Angel last night.

For those of you who haven't watched... there are spoilers aplenty here.

First off, we were elated to see that Dennis was still in the opening credits. But we felt it was strange seeing James' name so early on the list, before the other people that have been there since at least the end of the second season. Like the other people are no longer important.

They have tenure. Doesn't that count for something?

Harmony was funny and as vapid as ever. I actually think I'm going to like Eve, and it's obvious she's way evil. The fight scenes were awesome, though the CGI at the beginning totally blew chunks. The 'wetwork' guys reminded me of the Initiative, but it looks like Angel put an end to that potential malady. In a badass, swift way no less. But, hhmmm... human death. What will the repercussions be for that? He may have deserved it, but I would assume humans are still considered innocents. Gunn has found his place in the company with a little help, including new spiffy suits, and has shown that he's already become a huge asset. Fred is little Miss Science Girl with a Dixie Chicks poster who had an uncharacteristic verbal outbreak on her scientists, but I guess that was to show just how in charge she really was. And it seemed like Wes and Lorne didn't have much going on in this episode.

But Spike's appearance... with that whole reverse dusting coming out of the amulet and being in the same pose he was in when he dusted and presumably got sucked in to the amulet at the end of Buffy... that was so groovy. To top it off, that last shot of Wes and Angel, both saying 'Spike' [one shocked, one angrily] then Harmony jumping into the background of the frame and squealing 'Blondie Bear!?'..... purely priceless. Chris literally hurt himself from laughing too hard.

I'm liking the new bright look everything has, as opposed to the typical darkness. Lots of change there, but it works well. It doesn't mean the sewers and shadows are completely gone, Angel has to get around somehow and his pretty new cars will only take him so far. And Joss' directing in the episode was phenomenal. I found myself appreciating how different shots were framed or panned, and I'm never the type of person to notice those things.

I see good things happening this season, and I dearly hope it can last an entire season. I very much hope for it to conclude into another season, and another after that. And whenever it does end, I hope Joss will get the time needed to finish any storyline in progress and give Angel a worthy ending.

To shanshu and be with baked cookie Buffy and eat cookie dough fudge mint chip ice cream, happily ever after.

Though, now, there's the idea that the shanshu prophecy was meant for Spike instead.

Wouldn't that be a bitch?
