Adding Some Flare August 26, 2003 - 5:12 p.m. The only bonus I found to working at the horse show last week, was hearing the often odd music choices. They had a live mini-orchestra, ten people at the most, that would play songs during most of the classes. Some of the songs were completely normal. Classical pieces or older songs that everyone knows, like Sinatra stuff. Which, in itself, rocked. But it was beyond odd hearing them play things like The Monkees and The Turtles or songs from The Little Mermaid, hidden in soothing classical rhythm and scales. Though if you knew the song, it was obvious what they were playing. I was often very busy running around like a moron, so I have no idea how many modern-songs-set-to-quartet-sound I missed. But when I did catch them, I couldn't help but chuckle. Especially when it was something like 'Do you Know the Way to San Jose' or 'Copa Cabana' or something from a soundtrack like songs from Annie. I think they even played The Beatles a few times as well. And these are what I picked up on the few times I was actually paying attention. Who knows what I missed out on!
