Go Fish October 01, 2003 - 12:54 p.m.

So he took me to Red Lobster and insisted I order the huge plate of shrimp, because he knew I would like it.

$20. For one person's meal.

"We have a date with destiny, and she just ordered the lobster."

It was a very good, yet pricey, dinner. For the both of us, it was just over fifty bucks. That includes the tip. That seems like a lot, but I guess it's really not all that bad. I'm so completely oblivious to what 'good' meals should cost. I usually feel like we've spent too much, if we spend more than fifteen.

I'm a cheap date.

Also, when I woke up yesterday, he had a bag of goodies sitting by the couch for me as well as a thing of Sprite, which I mentioned I had cravings for.

It's those little things that always make me smile.

The bag of goodies consisted simply of all four available toys that come with the purchase of a children's meal at Subway. All four toys, relating to Scooby Doo and the Monster of Mexico, the new animated movie. A frisbee, spiraling football, kite, and golf club with ball. They will most likely stay in the packaging and be stored safely in my trunk o' Scooby stuff when I go home this weekend.

And I am so behind on my Scooby movies. I hadn't even heard about this new one until I saw a brief glimpse of the cover on a commercial for Airheads, of all places. It's already out... I usually know about these things like a month or two ahead of time. So now I need this one, I still haven't seen Scooby Doo and the Legend of the Vampire, and I haven't picked up Scooby Doo and the Cyber Chase. Considering how far behind I am on these, as well as the comics, I may never catch up.

Especially when you count all the other ones I still don't have like Scooby Meets Batman, the Harlem Globetrotters, Winter Wonderdog, SD Goes to Hollywood, Ghoul School, Reluctant Werewolf... and the DVDs of Zombie Island, Boo Brothers, and Arabian Nights.

With all the things I have on my wish list, no wonder it's impossible for me to figure out what's at the top of it.

So that was our anniversary celebration. He told me that the Scooby stuff wasn't really considered a special gift, he just knew I would like it. Which is relieving, because then I don't feel bad for not being able to get him something. Yet there's still the guilt of him paying for dinner and me not doing anything. Plus, more guilt... he said we're going to see a movie this Saturday as well as getting chicken wings at Hooters, as more of a celebration.

Oh yeah, we're so creative.

Maybe it's boring.

But I like to think of it as peaceful and zenlike.
