Gimpy Websites February 10, 2004 - 5:10 a.m.

Geocities update: Apparently my account was considered dormant, despite having signed in and shifted files around within the past month or two. You have six months from the last time you sign-in, for an account to go dormant. Regardless, it went dormant according to them, thus files are gone. And that's where I kept all my created layouts, images, as well as potential layout ideas. I think I have the majority of it all saved on the other computer or a disc somewhere, thankfully, but I can't help thinking I had other images there as well. Random things like doggy pictures or things my brother may have sent like his wedding pictures.

Remember, folks, if you have a Geoshitties account, sign in every six months so that your account isn't deleted.

In other website news, I looked a little further into Scribble Journal and have noticed several people complaining about the website. Though it offers a lot of nice features, these features don't often work correctly. If you have a free account and it's a feature you're not accustomed to anyhow, then this shouldn't be an issue. But when it's other simple things, like being able to sometimes update... it can be a little problematic. There was one person that even paid for an account, and everytime they'd try to update, nothing happened. There's other little things, like I wish there were more options for time and date display. And it doesn't look like you can change your guestbook setup, per signed entry. And you can't rename an image file to something simple, it's automatically a random set of numbers. Same thing with entries. Here, I almost always set up the name of each entry's html home. (Did that make sense?) I know there were other things, but this thinking thing isn't working for me right now.

There's always problems when you're running a new website. But I think given such current problems, I'll wait on my decision to move. I'm staying here, but I've already staked claim there. And who knows, maybe I'll decide to use both, just locking that one and keeping it completely private.
