Halloween Five November 03, 2003 - 1:37 p.m. 1. What was your first Halloween costume? The first costume that I remember, and the one I wore the most, was Casper. Typical kids costume with the cheesy mask and plastic gown. My brother helped by painting my eyes white so that it looked just a little better.2. What was your best costume and why? I've never really had the opportunity to dress up, now that I think about it. Hhmmm... I was a cavegirl when I was around fourteen, complete with a bone necklace. Last year I didn't have a costume, so I just said I was dressed as Fred from Angel because we have the same hair. The year before that I was a hung witch. Had a really bad store-bought kids witch outfit then bought some rope and put a noose around my neck. Lots of makeup too, to look dead-ish. I think I just looked funny instead. I think the best one though, was when I wore a white lace dress and used shades of blue and grey eyeshadow to cover my face. I never put a label on the outfit, but I guess it was like some chic that died of hypothermia. I did all the gradual shading to make it look like my eyes and cheeks had sunken it, then there was just the discoloring of course. Then I used blue eyeliner on my lips mixed with grey eyeshadow and lipgloss to get my lips to blend in better. I got comments all night, asking how I did the makeup. They looked confused and kind of let down when I told them it was only eyeshadow.3. Did you ever play a trick on someone who didn't give you a treat? Nope, nothing like that. But I would occasionaly play tricks just out of boredom. Hide and jump out and say boo. This works exceptionally well on my mom. My brother used to do the same thing when he still lived with us. I sneak up on people a lot. Then there's things like putting saran wrap on the toilet and just hiding things from people. Around Christmas, I use deceptive wrapping way too much. I'll wrap a video game in a shoe box, or something like that.4. Do you have any Halloween traditions? (ie: Family pumpkin carving, special dinner before trick or treating, etc.) Nope, no traditions. But I wish I did. Whenever I have a family, I want to have at least one, if only tiny, tradition. Pumpking carving is always good.5. Share your favorite scary story...real or legend! And of course, I can't think of anything. Urban legends are fun. The scariest thing to me is having a stranger lurking in your house... so the news could freak me out. My Halloween this year was far from eventful. I got to work at six in the morning and didn't get home until nine that evening. The very last of the trick or treaters were wandering home at that point. I talked to Chris on the phone for a bit, he stayed in and played Heroes with a friend, then I went to sleep. The next morning, waking up at four to be at work by 5:30. Chris picked me up around 6:30 that night, we went to the geek store for a bit and hung out, then to Frisch's to get pancakes, then home where I went to sleep again. So my Halloween weekend was filled with nothing but work and sleep. How incredibly lame.
