Submitting Blank Pages April 02, 2003 - 3:17 a.m. My mom took me to fill out an application at the cable company. Although application really isn't the right word. It's more like 'book'. This thing was like 10 pages long. I sat there, for at least an hour, just staring at the pages. I have no fucking clue what I'm doing when it comes to finding jobs. I've only filled out one application, EVER. And I've only been on one job interview, EVER. And those were both for the same job. Which I got, but that's no big deal. I was a 'sales associate'. OOooohh. Prestige, or something. That's about as difficult as it is to get a job at McDonald's. This job itself sounds pretty cool. Well, the benefits of the job, anyhow. Free digital cable, 500+ channels. Discount on Pay-Per-Views and other pay events. And a discount on cable internet. Insurance - health, vision, dental. 401k. Paid Vacation and sick days. Not an awful starting pay either. Yet I still feel like the job isn't 'for me'. I felt that the minute I saw the parking lot. There was something about the parking lot that immediately screamed 'Don't bother, you'll hate it here'. And while sitting in the lobby, feeling like a complete fucking retard because I didn't know what to write on my application, I felt that out-of-placeness even stronger. Besides, they had a HUGE stack of applications to sort through, and being that I have no experience as well as unreliable transportation, mine will be tossed to the side. That, and they can't hire family members... if they were to pick between me or my mom, who also filled out an application, they would pick her over me. She has a car. She has WAY more experience, which could even lead to promotions. And they don't know it yet, but she's a really hard worker.... when she's working. And even if I did wind up getting the job, and found a way to get to and from work... just wait. I'll say how much I absolutely HATE working there.
