Dog Day Dreams March 13, 2004 - 10:44 p.m.

I was having a dream and there were three dogs at the house across the street. One of which was Tasha.

Tasha was sweet. She liked to talk to you, and I don't mean barking. She kind of... grunted. It was strange, but cute.

So I'm looking out the window, in said dream, and Tasha's running around and wanting attention and suddenly crosses the street and heads for our front door. So I run to open the door for her, and when I do, I see Dexter on the front porch and get all excited. But Dexter quickly turns into Bones, and he's got this GINORMOUS - so ginormous, it requires all caps as well as bold - tumor under his back leg. This tumor's like the size of a beach ball, and he can't put his leg on the ground so he's hobbling around in this constant dog-pissing pose and it's all oozing and disgusting... So I run to him and try to see what I can do to help him, and he hobbles over to me, still managing to be all wiggly and happy like he was. And I'm petting him and going 'aawwww... Poor Bonses'....

And the phone rings.

And I'm still half asleep and say screw it.

And the machine kicks on.

And Becky leaves her message.

About Bart.

Another dog.

So I get up and call her back and she tells me that if they can't find a home for Bart, then they'll put him to sleep like they did with Kira. And the guy that Kira attacked - the one we think hurt her first - has done something to scare the shit out of Bart. He's afraid to leave this one area of the house, and everyone feels certain that he was kicked.

All because Bart got sick.

This guy just pisses me off more and more. The only redeeming quality is that he loves Kess. And Kess really needed somebody who truly cared for her. So I can't decide if I should be all grrr about the other dogs, or yay for Kess.

I'm both, but it seems wrong.

P.S. - All names mentioned, besides Becky, are of dogs I used to take care of at the lake. Which kind of worries me, because the only time I've had dreams with dogs, is after the dog has died. I don't think I've ever had Romeo in a dream. And now that I think about it, I've had Cassidy in a dream too. And she was the cutest little fainting sheep dog that limped. Stupid dreams. Better not mean anything.
