Dixie Chicks May 20, 2003 - 2:24 p.m. So I worked the Dixie Chicks concert afterall. Despite the overwhelming feeling of simply not wanting to. A whopping four hours worth of minimum pay. When you're desperate for cash, you'll do just about anything I suppose. I don't dislike the Dixie Chicks. Of course, I wouldn't say that I like them either. But I guess if I was forced to listen to something labeled 'Country Music', I would pick them. I couldn't care less about any controversial statements, so my opinion isn't swayed one way or another based on that. I simply didn't want to work in the large crowd. I don't deal well with crowds. I freak out. Hyperventilate. Full on anxiety attack. It just isn't possible to do a job while coping with that. But I did fine on Sunday. Luckily, they put my mom and I at one of the least used gates. It was still very packed, but there were occasional lulls in the line. I was a 'ticket taker'. Which is silly, as I didn't actually take any tickets. It was all electronic and so very cool. They gave me a scanner, which is actually just a palm pilot with some scanning attachment, and put me to work. I scanned the little barcode on the ticket and the screen would display a 'Go' sign if they were good and a 'Stop' sign if there was something wrong. They also made noises so I didn't pay attention to the screen. I think I had far more people come through my door than the others... I have mad scanning skills. Or something. The evening was awfully dull. I was somewhat relieved when they told we could go after only four hours. I think the most interesting part of the event was making fun of all the girls. I don't think I've ever seen so many people wear clothes that were so completely trendy yet entirely unfashionable at one time. Too many girls were far to curvy in all the wrong places to be wearing clothes that were intended for elementary students. And oh my god at all the cowboy hats. Who allows these trends to exist? Especially particular hairstyles. These people will certainly look back and say 'What was I thinking?' as they're burning any remaining pictures that prove their guilt in bad taste. As we were going to leave, I decided to walk in and check out the stage. It was actually pretty cool. All mirrored floors that even wrapped around two sections of fans. They also had huge monitors above the stage where they showed either closeups of the band performing or some music video setup. If I had any desire to stay and watch, I could have. But I didn't, obviously. So it was off to home with my lazy ass. If it weren't for the money, I wouldn't have gone to begin with. Then again, it won't even be $25. So maybe it wasn't worth it at all. Last Buffy tonight. No new Buffy. Ever. Well, unless she ends up doing guest shots on other shows. Or they decide to do the movie after a few years have passed. Neither could happen. Both might. There's no telling right now. *sniffle* Let's have a moment of silence...... Oh, I hope they kill off Kennedy. "We're taking a moment... and we're done."
