A Delivery December 06, 2002 - 1:41 p.m.

I heard a car stop outside, sitting idly in front of the house. I have a rather strange sense of hearing. Sense of smell too. I can smell a tick on a dog. But I digress.

I got up to investigate the noise, only thinking it was Chris' friend coming over to play video games or something.

I saw the person come up to the door, knock, then quickly run away. It is quite cold after all.

UPS just delivered a package.

He told me ahead of time that he was expecting it and that I should not open it.

He's asleep.

It's taunting me.

'Hey you.. please let me out of this horrid box. I've been trapped for so long and the ride was very bumpy. Just for a moment, please. It won't hurt. I just need a bit of air. I'll make it worth your while with doughnuts and hot chocolate.'

This is a very evil package.

I didn't know what to do with it. Leave it on the porch and let him get it when he woke up. Or get it, but see where it came from, then have an idea of what he ordered.

I was going to leave it. Be a good little girl. But I thought of the snow and decided it'd be best if it didn't get wet.

Silly me. I didn't realize they put the box in a bag to help protect it from such things.

It's from Amazon, I think.

I didn't see a name. I didn't look. In fact I tried my damndest to make my eyes look another way while I quickly brought it inside. But I saw a very familiar icon.

Amazon won't give anything away though. In fact, it makes it a little more difficult, because I know he wouldn't order DVD's from there. So that leaves books, then about a trillion other things.

The box is a tad to big to be simply books.

Now all I can think is....

Is this the thing that is necessary yet out of print?!

I'm obsessed.
