AIM Deactivation December 09, 2004 - 5:16 p.m. My AIM account - greyflowers - has been "blocked". But I have no idea why. The possible reasons listed include the cancellation of an AOL account, parental controls through the AOL settings, users that have identified themselves as being under 13 years old, and because of violations of the terms of service. Four possibilities. Let's go down the list. #1 - Cancellation of the AOL account where said screenname originated. Well, this screenname was never an AOL account, so we can scratch that off the list. #2 - Parental controls designated through the AOL settings. Um, again, this was never an AOL account. So, another scratch. #3 - Users that have identified themselves as being under 13 years old. I learned this after creating my Cheryl Mason account on Yahoo. I had the age listed as seven, because that's how old the character in Silent Hill was, and they blocked the entire account - including the six other names on it - from being able to chat. So, I've learned never to do that again. Certainly wouldn't have done it here. Fuckers. And so, that leaves... #4 - Violations of the terms of service. ToS Reading over that, I can't think of a single thing on that list that I would even consider doing, let alone actually acting upon and carrying out. Especially considering the few times I've actually used it. Also, I get the same message of the account being blocked, regardless of what password I try. That may be normal, though. I've tried retrieving the password for it anyhow, but damn if I can't remember which email address I used when signing up. So I've boiled it down to three possibilities. It was deactivated due to lack of use, it was hacked, or AOL is a bunch of fucktards. Regardless of the reason, it looks like I have to change the link on this layout. But I have no idea what to change it to. Maybe I'll leave it. I was never online before, so what's the difference now, right? It's just annoying that it's not there for me to use anymore.
