Chewing Gum Tongue December 13, 2003 - 2:20 p.m.

Apparently, I gnaw on my tongue in my sleep.

Take a piece of chewing gum and chew it up a bit. Chomp down into it then take it out and look at it.

That's what the side of my tongue currently looks like. And it hurts like all hell. Instead of simply holding the shape for a short time then going back to normal, it's decided to just stay this way. In addition to that, I've apparently cut through the fleshy exterior so that it now feels like I'm slicing it open even more with the slightest brush against my teeth. Each little movement causes sharp pains to shoot through my tongue. I can even feel it in my neck. Needless to say, talking is a chore and eating is impossible.

And it all sucks muchly.

It's been like this for about three or four days now. Despite the pain of both alcohol and movement, I've continually swished with Listerine just hoping it will help. Also, I'm trying my best to keep my teeth apart so that I don't clamp down on it anymore. At least until it heals.

I feel like a total gimp.

In the past few days, while dealing with this immense pain and an empty stomach, I've had very little to eat. I had apple sauce the first day and tried to eat yogurt on the second, but it just wasn't working. Chris then brought home White Castles (small and soft) and a huge milkshake. At first I had trouble with even the shake, but due to my persistence brought on mostly by hunger, I was able to drink enough of the milkshake that even that stopped hurting. Then I was able to eat two hamburgers and a few fries. Thinking of how little I was able to eat the day prior, this was a huge triumph. I was proud of myself. Deciding that the ease of eating was due to the milkshake - the cold either numbed or reduced swelling - we went to Wendy's the next night so that I could get a Frosty with my meal. Same deal... pain, pain, pain, numb. I ate some chicken nuggets but couldn't eat the hamburger. Bah. And last night I had a leftover cheeseburger with minimal effort.

Yeah, so, I haven't had much to eat lately. And because I can't eat, I'm craving everything I see. They keep showing commercials for Sonic and chili dogs, and that seems to be what I'm craving the most. We're going to try and get some later tonight when Chris gets up. Even though it still hurts to chew, it doesn't hurt as much so I'm going to try to eat real food.

I'm fucking hungry!!

I bought my first Christmas present yesterday. Online. I'm so very behind on my shopping. This is sooo unlike me. Right now, I should have at least half of my shopping done and most of those wrapped. This year, I don't even know what to get. And we still don't have a tree up. Chris is saying that we'll go shopping on Monday morning (less crowd) and we're likely to get the tree then. We also need groceries.

We both agreed last night that it doesn't even feel anything like Christmas. I told him a tree would help. Also, we've not really had any snow. I think we had one or two days where it started to snow, but nothing really came of it. This morning, after he got home, it started to snow again. Real snow. The good kind. That sticks. We've got about a half an inch on the ground now and it's still coming now. He even agreed the snow is helping make it feel more like Christmas. So yay!

And.. um.... hmmm....

I guess that's all.
