*sniffles* Sarah's leaving...

"Cult TV show Buffy The Vampire Slayer will continue with a new star when lead actress Sarah Michelle Gellar departs, according to reports.

Eliza Dushku, who has already appeared in the show as Faith, will take over from Gellar who is leaving to pursue her film career, according to the Express newspaper.

Dushku will reportedly keep the role of moody Faith, rather than becoming the new Buffy.

The move would leave the door open for Gellar to come back and make the occasional cameo appearance.

It has not yet been announced when Gellar will leave the series.

Before taking over, Dushku is set to to appear alongside Gellar in the final three episodes of the current series.

The show's producers had looked at several different options before settling on 22-year-old Dushku, said the paper.

Other ideas considered included making Buffy's younger sister Dawn the main star.

Gellar decided to leave the show last summer to concentrate on her film career.

She has already starred in the live action film Scooby Doo, alongside husband Freddie Prinze Jr, and Cruel Intentions.

Gellar made her name with Buffy, which has become one of the most popular teenage TV shows worldwide.

She built up a cult following as a high school student with supernatural powers to hunt down and dispatch vampires.

Dushku is not nearly as well known. She was discovered at the end of a five-month search throughout the United State to play the lead role of Alice opposite Juliette Lewis in the film That Night.

She has appeared in several films and has worked alongside the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert DeNiro and Ellen Barkin."

All of which were in This Boy's Life with her.... Silly writers. And, I thought paragraphs typically included more than one sentence. There was only one supposed 'paragraph' up there that had more than one sentence, with a whopping two of them. Reporters should only be allowed to do stories that they have a passion for... or can at least bullshit their way through. I'm not claiming to be a great, or even good, writer myself but at least I'm aware of a few basic writing skills. This article was ass.

You can read it here. But I copied and pasted, so there's no more info on that page.

I don't really know how I feel about this. Where I do really like Faith, I don't know that I could picture her holding the entire show like Buffy did. Well, maybe not the entire show, cause you still had the elements of the other scoobies... but Buffy was it. Without her, it's not the same.

Also, this line: "It has not yet been announced when Gellar will leave the series." So.. it may be possible that she's on the show for a good chunk of the next season. That, or they heard a rumor and ran with it. Cause the most recent thing I've heard, is that Faith was approached to do a spin-off or something and it was still in discussion.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

This and the news of the animated series being 'shelved'... Pout City, man.
