Guarding a Broken Elevator March 08, 2004 - 1:11 a.m.

I worked fourteen hours on Thursday. Most of which involved sitting in front of a broken elevator and telling people that it didn't work and that the phones and bathrooms were behind them. I can't count how many came to me asking where something was, when they were standing two feet from it. Also, people kept asking if there was a fast food place nearby.

I don't drive. I'm never downtown. So I have no idea.

I told them as much.

I was a clock, an information booth, and a map.

There was an information booth on the other side of the hallway, I don't know why they didn't just go to them. And there was a map halfway between the two of us. So when I didn't know something, I pointed to where they should have gone to begin with.

On the plus side, I was able to read half of my book while I was 'working'.

On Friday, I ran around for over ten hours, being the relief person. I wandered the buildings and asked people if they wanted to take a break, then took over if they did. That made time go by much faster.

There was a hallway there, that had over a hundred - I counted - flag sized paintings lined side by side. It was a long wide hallway, with no windows. There were black drapes covering the walls, then these paintings together with no space between them, hanging over the drapes. Very dim lights, no music, few people. When I walked down this hallway, I instantly felt like I was in a dream. In fact, I had a brief flash of a dream I had not too long ago. Something about a cheese convention.

Long story short; I want this hallway.

The next day, Becky took me to see Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen - eh - and 50 First Dates - cute. I got to see Hallie, who's already gained two pounds and is getting that cute chubby baby look, as well as Sid, Kess, and Bart.

Then I came home to find that Chris got lots of groceries while I was gone, some with me specifically in mind. Like popcorn shrimp and cinnamon Life cereal. And now I'm talking about food while I'm hungry.
