Borderlands Five February 07, 2004 - 8:39 a.m. In high school, I had a series of books that I loved called Borderlands. There were only four and I snatched each one up as quickly as I could, always awaiting the next book. Much like Splatterpunks, Borderlands was a collection of short stories that were created with the sole purpose of pushing the envelope in the horror and dark fantasy genre. Sometimes you'd find exceptional stories. Sometimes you would laugh at the sheer ridiculousness of a tale. All in all, a great source of entertainment. It was in these books that I first read the likes of authors such as Poppy Z. Brite. It's been nearly ten years now, and no mention of a fifth book. I'd pretty much given up hope on another volume until I saw a link to this site on Whedonesque, showing that Angel was nominated for an award. And then I saw under 'Anthology' the listing for Borderlands 5. There's no coincidence that this could have the same name, editors, and chronological number as the previous books. Then I checked Amazon, and it was apparently just released last month. And in hardback! My other editions are paperback. So I've got yet another book to add to my ever-growing wishlist. But this one is going right up there towards the top.
