Bargin Bin November 09, 2003 - 11:39 p.m. Still nothing exciting. We wandered around Best Buy for a few hours, while I continued to drool over the Angel: Season 2 boxset. Chris got the Tenacious D dvd; they had it really cheap. Then off to the geek store where Chris and his friends talked EQ while I wandered around looking at more movies and games. Including several used copies of Angel. It's like they're all taunting me. "Buy me, Nikki. You know you want to." Well.. yeah. Duh. But I need to save for Christmas. At least, that's the current plan. Don't know how long I'll last though given that boxset, Two Towers gift set coming out in a week or two, and Buffy: Season 5 and Firefly at the beginning of December. I know I can do it, but we'll see. While randomly staring off into space when the guys were babbling - I thought only girls did that - I happened to notice a very plain spine for a dvd on the cheap rack. Black. Three white letters. Tiny, unclear square at the end. So I tapped Chris on the shoulder and pointed. "Is... is that May... on the cheap shelf?" I've checked the bookstore for this movie every time we've stopped by, and nothing. It's not a movie that got a lot, if any, hype. What little I have heard about it, was good. The way it's been described, it's a movie I would like. I've seen it at Blockbuster and they had it at Best Buy, but I kept hoping they would get it at the bookstore, because they let Chris borrow movies for free. I save money anywhere I can. I'd gotten used to not seeing it there. The idea of it ever coming in seemed impossible. Basically, they have fully mainstream movies, or random anime. So when I saw it, I was in disbelief. My first thought was that there was another movie with the same title. Or it was a music dvd or something off like that. But Chris walked over, plucked it off the shelf, and sure enough there she was with her black hair and red lips, staring at me from the cover. Then I thought it was a mistake... surely they wouldn't put that on the cheap rack. It's somewhat a rarity as well as being a recent film. But nope, the sticker said $9.99. Ten bucks! Without any words, Chris pushed it towards the cash register. Then decided to look for another movie on the cheap rack, because they are 2 for $15. He found Half Baked, got his 'I'm friends with the owner' discount, and the two movies were only $6.50 a piece. See, even if you haven't seen a movie, it's worth buying when there's a deal like that. So, Yay! I now have May to watch! That's happy stuff. Plus we had a nice day, just hanging out... getting away from the tv and computer. I'm a tech whore and social recluse, but even I realize we need to get away for a bit. Despite the good stuff, Chris still annoyed me when he spent out real money for in-game money on EverQuest. Granted, it was only twenty bucks (for 15,000 plat), but it's still completely stupid to me. If you're just going to buy stuff, it defeats the purpose of actually playing the game. He's already paying a monthly fee to play, and I don't want this bout of stupidity to continue. I can overlook a one time thing, especially considering it wasn't a huge amount of money, but if it continues, I'll be more than pissed. I hate giving my money to people then seeing them spend money stupid and uselessly, especially when I'm sitting here making sacrifices. When I get happy about being able to get a cheap dvd and he's saying 'Here, lemme buy some fake money'... something isn't right.
